Spring Clogging Recital 2016

Meagan has been studying clogging now for 2 years and I have to say, in that time, she has gotten INCREDIBLY good at it.  She seems to have a real knack for dance and a rhythm that runs through her blood.  She is truly happy when she is dancing, and the smile on her face shows it clearly.

Each group (the beginners and intermediate) did two performances and the adults (less the instructor who was expecting at the time) did another.  Here is a picture of the kids' groups with the instructor and her assistant for the semester.

As is customary for an arts performance, there were flowers all around.  (P.S., my wife thinks of EVERYTHING.  2 years and I still can't remember that little detail...)

I am so grateful that we have had the opportunity thus far in Lubbock to have her study dance with such a capable teacher who really enjoys working with kids.  The opportunity to watch Meagan grow in this way has truly been a joy for Sarah and I and we look forward to many more years of such growth and happiness.

Another semester of Clogging down...

Well, another semester of clogging has gone by.  This semester was twice-on-Tuesday classes for Meagan.  A Tuesday evening class with her friends (the Intermediate class) and a Tuesday morning private tutoring session with her instructor.  She takes to clogging like a duck to water.  If you watch her throughout the day, you'll catch her practicing her steps while doing chores or moving from one area of the house to the other.

We love watching her and she is extremely invested in her dance.  The happiness you see when she is dancing is not a face, but the music and the beat as it affects her.  We're so pleased with her progress and her enthusiasm.

This is the dance that the intermediate class worked on this semester.

Last year, Meagan did this song as a solo for the Grace Lubbock Homeschool Association.  She reprises it this year, both faster and with much greater precision.

We love watching her and she is extremely invested in her dance.  The happiness you see when she is dancing is not a face, but the music and the beat as it affects her.  We're so pleased with her progress and her enthusiasm.  Here she is with the 3 classes in her teacher's studio (her teacher is the adult on the right of the picture - pink tie).

Happy Feet

Meagan has been clogging now since September.  There was a two-month break and then she started up again in February.  We managed to convince her to participate in the talent show that the homeschool group we attend put on.  She has some incredible, natural talent that she needs to share with others.  And share she did.  She did a FANTASTIC job and everyone was very impressed.  Her teacher even came to watch her.

We are SO impressed with the talent she has developed.  We are even more pleased with how happy music and dancing seems to make her.  Way to go, Meagan!  We love you so much!

Meagan's First Clogging Recital

This fall, Meagan decided that she wanted to take clogging as part of her home schooling experience.  It MAY have helped that she already had two friends clogging as well.  Her class has four girls in it.  All four are members of our stake, and two were in our ward before we moved across town.

Here's a shot of Meagan's class and their teacher, McCall.

But HERE'S what you really came to see.  This is the dance that Meagan's class did.  It's actually only half the dance.  They will be learning the second half next semester (after their teacher takes some much needed R&R from making her family bigger by one).

Meagan is, apparently, a natural at this.  One of the many things that I did not know about her as she grew up was that she would have an ability to put together rhythm and coordination to produce stuff like this.  We're extremely pleased with her and happy that she is having such fun with her friends while developing one of her talents.  Oh, and lest you think that this is the result of extended periods of training, think again.  Two months.  This is only two months for her.  Yeah.  Our daughter got game.
