Love of Tennis

Meagan has found her calling in a few ways, and one of those ways is tennis. Practices and matches are the highlight of her week. She enjoys it so much, and works on her technique any chance she can. She is on the high school team this year and works hard to make her coach and teammates proud.

Whether it is singles or doubles she puts forth her best effort everytime.

 

We have been so proud of her determination and perseverance. This last Thanksgiving she had the chance to play with her aunt Elizabeth, and after they played she commented that she wasn't afraid of her fast balls this time, and that she had a blast learning from her. Elizabeth commented on how much she has improved since the last time they played in June. Even though tennis takes a chunk out of our week for practices and matches, I am so grateful she has this in her life. I am also amazed at the unity this team has. They are always there for you and whether you did great or made tons of mistakes, her teammates are always there to uplift her and encourage her. I love her tennis team.

Tennis Rules

Meagan has always wanted to play tennis. While still in public school, she had the opportunity to play tennis for her P.E. class. She LOVED it. So over the summer, we put her in a tennis camp. This year with the homeschool sports program she is able to not only practice tennis but to play games with other kids who play as well (homeschooled as well as non-homeschooled kids).

Now she can't wait til her aunts or uncles who play come to visit or we visit them.

Tennis Camp

Calling all tennis players...

 Before pulling Meagan out of public school she was taking tennis for P.E. and let's just say she loved it. When we started our adventures in homeschooling, she really wanted to make sure she could continue learning how to play tennis. I have been progressively getting to know and become involved in groups with other homeschooling families, and learned through the grapevine about a tennis camp beginning in June. I jumped at the opportunity and snagged a spot for Meagan, then surprised her with the info the night before. She was ecstatic.

I asked her after the first day how she thought she did and she said, "I am really rusty but it is slowly coming back to me."

The camp was everyday from 9 am til 11:30, and in Texas it gets hot early and I was dying just sitting there and watching her. She had to be dying, but she said she loved it and can't wait to try out for the team in the fall (yes, Lubbock has a really great program for home-schooled kids to do sports, they even play all the public schools).

By the end of the week, she really started to improve and her coach even commented on how well she was playing. She also said that when Aunt Elizabeth comes to visit she so wants to get her game on!!
