Western Night

For activity days they had a father/daughter western night. Unfortunately, even living in Texas for 2 years, I don't own a pair of leather boots or a cowboy hat. Jeans, jean shirt, and hiking boots would have to do. We were handed tin stars and bandannas upon arrival.

Meagan the Kid

Deputy Dad

Meagan correctly guessed that we would be doing a three legged race. I tried to get a picture of us, but for some reason, my iPhone got set to video. Below is a quick video that our High Priest Group Leader got of Meagan and I finishing our leg of the race.

Next up they had us traverse the gym with a potato between our legs. With a long day at work, and being tired from trying to race tied to Meagan, I forgot to get a photo of me or Meagan, but I got one of Brother Toombs and Brother Hardy doing the pass-off. Carrying a potato between one's legs while walking is most easily done with Velcro tape sticking it to your pants. Feel free to experiment and prove me wrong, however I am thoroughly convinced having dropped it no less than 25 times while attempting the feat without benefit of such tape.

Afterwards, we had a wheelbarrow race. Meagan made it about 3/4 of the way down before we had to turn around. We were both tired (daddy more-so than Meagan - this was an "in-shape" man's night). I managed not to get pictures of this one, however, I was out-thought. One of the dads (Brother Oler) had the bright idea to have his daughter's hands on the bandanna and drag her behind. Can't argue with ingenuity and he finished in by far the fastest time.

The final contest was a "mud pie" eating contest. Consisting of really small bowls with chocolate pudding and sour patch gummy worms. My face did not fit in the bowl, but I have a long tongue. My face stayed almost clean. Meagan, on the other hand, went to town. She attacked the bowl with gusto. Several minutes later, she was done. Chocolate pudding mess = happy kid. Age apparently doesn't matter.

They got a picture of us all together and I'll see if I can get it and post it at a later date. Good times. Good times.
