3rd Grade Patriotic Program

Jacob had his patriotic program (for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday).  They also sang 3 songs.  The YouTube links are below (again, they are all to long for Blogger to host).

Here's a few shots of Jacob (in-costume).

And finally, after the show was over, we got a clearer shot of him.  He had a lot of fun for this last program of his 3rd Grade year.  We're looking forward to see what he does next year.

School Award Ceremonies

End of the school year is here again. The kids had such a good year and loved their teachers. Josh and I are so proud of all the hard work they put in and all they have accomplished. I can't believe we are going to have a fourth grader and one in middle school. They really are growing up to fast.

Jacob had an amazing year. We were so worried about him at the beginning but when he got transferred to Ms. Etchinson's class we knew all would be well. He thrived in there and she was amazing at getting him to focus and work hard. He even started to like reading this year, which was awesome considering that before this it was like pulling teeth. He reached his AR reading goal each period. Way to go Buddy!!! He also thrived in math. He really enjoys it (he even helped Meagan out with her fifth grade math once in a while).

This year he earned several awards. He earned the AR award, and A honor roll, and the tiger award. (this award is given to those who throughout the year show great school spirit and go up and beyond the call of duty to help out. Like cleaning the boys bathroom floor by picking up all the used paper towels....ewww but he wanted his school to look clean)

We love Ms. Etchinson she really was the best.

Meagan had a good year as well. To prepare the fifth graders for middle school they don't stay in the same class all day. They instead have five different teachers to teach the subjects. One for math, one for reading and so on. They keep all their books and papers in their backpack and move to each class for each subject. I thought this was smart to help them learn to keep organized and they will know what it is like in middle school. She excelled in reading, as usual, with a tenth grade reading level.

Meagan also earned a lot of awards this year. She got the AR award, A honor roll award, and honors choir, and battle of the books award. (Battle of the books is a program you can choose to do. You get a list of ten books you have to read throughout the year and at the end you get to battle other students for who knows the books the best. Kinda like a spelling bee) Meagan said that all the books were pretty boring and not very adventurous but she did it. My little bookworm!!

Here is Meagan and her homeroom teacher, Ms. Kittley. She taught math. Meagan passed her STAAR test in all required fields which is mandatory by state to move on to sixth grade. She also did very well on them too. Ms. Kittley said she was sweating bullets for Meagan on the math test because you are allowed to have four hours to finish it and if you go over time and don't finish you fail and have to do it over. Meagan finished in 3 hours 59 minutes and 30 seconds. Cutting it awfully close don't you think! We love you Meagan!!

5th Grade Talent Show

Meagan got to participate in her 5th Grade Talent show as a member of the Crestview Honors Choir.  They sang 3 songs that they had prepared.  The second one did not record for some reason (my apologies).  She did so well.  Next year she is signed up to do choir as well (in middle school).  She just loves to sing and she has a beautiful voice.  Below are the YouTube links to view their songs.

And finally, a photo of Meagan in her Honor's Choir shirt.  We're so happy for her and excited that she likes singing as much as she does.  She is truly a joy in our family.

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year, the kids each made a small cake and decorated it for Sarah.  They each decorated their own and were very proud of it.

That morning, Jacob made me wake him up early.  He wanted to be the first one awake so that he could make Sarah breakfast for Mother's Day.  He helped make her eggs and sausage and toast.  Meagan sang to her when she woke up.  Jacob made this at school for mommy as well.  He was an incredibly thoughtful and dutiful son for Mother's day and mommy appreciated it a lot.

For dinner, I made one of her favorite meals that we hadn't made in a long time - Waldorf Astoria Stew.  We had our friends over to share it and played some games to round out the evening.
